Soiree of the Week

Concert Couture in Paris

Bonjour Fashionistas!

One of the things I love most about living in a city as large as Paris is the large amount of musicians who perform here. Two of my favorite artists, The Chainsmokers and The Weeknd, performed in Paris only a week apart from each other. I love attending concerts for two main reasons: 1) I love live music, and 2)I love any event that gives me a reason to dress up.

It is common for women to wear dark colors to concerts, often mixing denim with black pieces. Leather jackets can also be a great staple piece for any girl’s concert wardrobe. I put a set together on Polyvore of an outfit I think would be perfect for the Parisian concert scene.

It includes a black leather jacket, a mesh top with some flowery pink and red embroidery, black skinny jeans with ripped knees (I actually own this pair and they’re my absolute FAVE!), gray suede booties, and a studded black cross-body bag. I think concerts are a great way to express your “edgy” and artsy side, and I personally think the best way to do this is through mixing different colors and textures, as I did with this set.

I’m all set for my next concert with this look, and I can’t wait to see what artist is coming to Paris next!

xoxo, Claire

Soiree of the Week

A night out at the Palais de Tokyo

When you’re looking for some fun stuff to do in Paris, do not write off a soiré at the Palais de Tokyo, one of Paris’ most well known and renowned contemporary art museums located right near the Eiffel Tower. If you don’t know much about the Palais de Tokyo, then look no further. The Palais de Tokyo is open until midnight on regular nights and has an amazing night life show. SO… if you’re wondering, “what should I wear to this event?” you’re prayers have been answered.

Here’s an example of something I would wear to a hip and trendy night out at the Palais de Tokyo Screen Shot 2017-02-26 at 8.13.18 PM.png

Having spent last weekend there, I saw a range of outfits to wear out. This is what I would ideally love to wear to an event like that. Simple colors, simple look, but extremely tasteful. The Parisian woman and the lifestyle surrounding it embodies ideas of class and fluidity. At such a class place, you would want to dress to match the persona surrounding the night. With the night look of the loafers, you can’t go wrong with this outfit at a nice soiré to look at some funky art!

Boutique of the Week

Atelier Beaurepaire

Hey chic girls! This week’s boutique is a feature on the men’s clothing in a unisex street wear store. I know, you’re probably thinking, “why is she featuring men’s clothing?!” Sometimes it’s not always about us, but the important men in our lives. They have to be stylish, too, right? This boutique is a great place to buy a garment for your boyfriend or dear friend for their birthday or even the holidays!

Jimmy Joseph Fellous is the co-owner and designer of Atelier Beaurepaire, located in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.

Although he was born and raised in Paris, France, his family is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, a francophone country located in Central Africa. Jimmy’s inspiration comes from his African roots as well as his love for skateboarding and music. He would describe his company as a lifestyle brand.

Here are a few of my favorite pieces that I think would make great gifts!

This bomber jacket runs at 195€. It’s a little on the pricey side, however it’s made of great quality and will definitely last.

This wool + cotton blend pullover sweater is a great addition to any guy’s closet! It can be worn to work or with a pair of dark blue jeans and sneakers. It’s priced at 125€.

These burgundy slim fit pants are perfect for a guy who wants to add a pop of color to his neutral wardrobe. They cost 95€.

Don’t forget to pick something up for yourself ladies! This light cotton skater skirt is perfect for the Spring/Summer seasons! You can pair it with a white crotchet top.

If you’re in the 10th district, make sure to check out Atelier Beaurepaire! It’s walking distance from the Jacques Bonsergent Metro Station.

Boutique of the Week

Addicted

Located in the Arts et Metier Section of Le Marais in the 3rd Arrondissement in Paris, is a small. unique, and funky boutique: Addicted. With an array of both men and women’s clothing, they use a different range of patterns, colors, and designs all for a very reasonable price while also maintaining a chic new look. Always staying above the trends and setting for them, they use a variety of new looks and combining themes of art and culture with their clothing. Using street fashion as their focal point, their casual street wear uses bright colors to give a look that is like no other. In other words, this is a place I would send someone who is visiting paris and wants to buy something that they can find no where else. Addicted is so unique, their boutique in Le Marais is their sole location in Paris, and without an online website, their clothes are that much more unique. Having an Amy Winehouse, Miley Cyrus gone rogue and Lady Gaga type look, they embody ideas of spunk and creativity. For mostly casual wear, they take simple things like jeans and sweaters and add that extra kick that sets it apart from everything else.

Here they use art to display their clothing as well as an artistic and inviting interior to draw shoppers in with their LED lighting, bright colors, and artistic use of morbid center pieces to draw attention to their grungy vibe. As for the fact that they are a small brand, they carry many different styles of clothing including shoes, incredible purses and over the top jewelry to math their grungy tones. Screen Shot 2017-02-19 at 9.19.26 PM.png

Street Girl of the Week

Liliana

liliana.jpgBonjour Fashionistas!

Each week we will be interviewing an individual whose style caught our eye on the streets here in Paris. Street style is exactly what it sounds like: the style an individual expresses through their daily apparel choices. We believe that this is the best way to identify and understand how an individual expresses their style, and how exactly they want to represent themselves to the world.

This week, I interviewed Liliana, a girl I met here in Paris. I spotted her at a café, and liked her shoes, so we got to talking about her outfit. I learned that she is also studying abroad in Paris for the semester, like myself. She comes from Chapman University in California, and seemed very excited to learn more about Parisian fashion during her time here.

Claire: Could you describe to me what you’re wearing?

Liliana: Today I’m wearing a mustard yellow and white striped turtleneck with a sweater over it, and my black jacket.

Claire: How exactly would you describe your street style to readers?

Liliana: I would say my street style is simple but stylish. I usually stick to darker colors, which makes me feel at home here since everyone in Europe wears such dark clothing! I’ve been trying to incorporate it into my wardrobe even more to blend in with the locals. I’m trying to become fluent in French while I’m here for the semester, and I’ve noticed that the more I dress like them, the less hesitant they are to speak to me in French instead of English.

Claire: Where do you typically shop for your clothing?

Liliana: I feel like where I shop most often has definitely changed pretty recently. Lately, I’ve been super into J. Crew and Topshop. I’ve only been here two weeks, but I’ve already done a little shopping. I really like Muji… that’s actually where I got this shirt from!

Claire: Where do you turn for fashion inspiration?

Liliana: Honestly, just from those around me- my friends, even strangers. I just like to look to see what other people are wearing and kind of incorporate trends the trends I notice and like into my wardrobe. Like I saw everyone here in Paris wearing long black winter coats. I became super self-conscious about my burnt orange one I brought from home, so I decided to go out and buy this one. I liked the dark color thing they had going on here, and I didn’t want to stick out like a sore thumb as a tourist right away!

A big thanks to Miss Liliana for letting me interview her about her street style! ☺

Until next week,

Claire

Soiree of the Week

Boat Fete sur la Seine

Hi guys! Soirée of the Week is a section where each week we find an event in Paris that’s happening or that one of us is attending, and post a photo grid of an outfit suggestion. Sometimes we find these awesome parties but have no idea what to wear! Quatre Filles Chic is here to give you some inspiration!

This evening I am going to a fete on the Seine River with a few girls I met a couple weeks ago. It is a caribbean party, where they play soca and reggae music, which originates from islands like Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, and more around the Caribbean!

I have been thinking about my outfit for some time now, and I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to wear. It’s not a formal party, so if I could wear anything, check out below what I would put together!

This is pretty similar to some of the items I have in my closet. I have a crazy obsession with distressed boyfriend jeans. I have three pairs! I would pair my jeans with an off-the-shoulder blouse to dress up the outfit. A black leather jacket with simple suede booties can add an edge to the ensemble. To complete the look, a bold red lip, some mascara, and a couple bracelets. Don’t forget a cross-body bag to keep your belongings close!

Comment below and tell me what you guys think!
