A Night At A Parisian Fashion Show

Hello everybody!
Saturday night I went to a fashion show in the Hotel Renaissance in Paris, where a friend of mine was on the catwalk. It was so chic! In the fashion show there were different collections of some new designers. I really enjoyed it! It can be really hard to know how to dress when you go in a fashion event, because you know that everybody will be at the top an will notice what you will wear. That’s why every detail is important! To not take any risk, I would bet on a classic but effective outfit, which will make you look elegant.
Here is an example of a type of outfit you could wear:

A simple but elegant black dress as the basis, that you can adorn with silver, rose gold or white diamond accessories, high heels, and of course the indispensable clutch bag!

Hope I have given you some ideas, and don’t forget to share yours!
See you soon,
xoxo Magdalena

Soiree of the Week

Sunday Groove at Café Barge

Bonjour, Fashionistas!

This weekend is Week 1 of one of the most popular music festivals in the United States, Coachella! All of the hottest celebrities and their fans are somewhere in the middle of the desert in California, enjoying great music, food, and other festivities.

Although we are in Paris, I thought this week’s Soiree of the Week outfit could be Coachella inspired. Tomorrow afternoon I am going to Café Barge for their weekly “Sunday Groove.” My friends were there last weekend, and enjoyed drinks while dancing to live DJ’s outdoors along the water! The venue faces the popular Cite de la Mode and Design.

Here’s a super cute Coachella inspired outfit that I would rock on an afternoon like tomorrow.

Gladiator sandals are probably the #1 go-to for girls attending music festivals. The aesthetic can be described as Bohemian Chic. This lace cardigan over a cropped blouse is super cute and fun. Accessories like flower crowns are super popular, especially when paired with colored sunglasses and bangles. Finish the look with a satchel bag, which leaves your arms free to dance, and you’re all set!

Enjoy your weekend, ladies!

Soiree of the Week

The Amalfi Coast

Bonjour Fashionistas!

Typically, we try and give you styles to wear around Paris, BUT, it’s Spring Break, and i’m currently sunning it up in the Amalfi Coast in Italy! I’ve put together a look that would be perfect for a day around Positano- maybe grab a little lunch or a drink and do some shopping! It would also definitely work great in doubling as a cover-up for a swimsuit for those days on the beach or on a boat!

Screen Shot 2017-03-29 at 8.55.57 PM.png

I put together a look featuring denim cutoffs, an off the shoulder (SO in right now) pinstripe top, tan sandals, a colorful straw beach tote with pom-poms, tortoiseshell sunnies, and a simple gold choker!

Seriously, everyone is wearing this style shirt right now. This top is an adorable piece and a great way to transition into the Spring season. Denim shorts will definitely always be in style, and also work as a great cover up option for a swimsuit!

I kept the tan sandals simple and understated since pieces like the tote and top contribute enough pops of color and patterning to the look on their own.

Sunnies are always a must, especially on the Coast! I chose these tortoiseshell ones because they are a great complement to the rest of the outfit, and the round-frame is very popular currently. The choker adds a little bit of pizzaz to the outfit, but is not meant to be the outfit’s main focal point. Beachin’ it means light makeup, natural hair and low-key, understated jewelry.

I decided to add a colorful tote with words on it. This might be a little too out-there for some ladies.. totally your call in terms of how much color you want to add to this look with the bag! The outfit would also look great with a tan crossbody bag or tote, if you’re more on the neutral side!

All of these pieces are pretty standard styles that you could find at your local Parisian Forever 21, H&M, etc. Get inspired by this look and you’ll be the most stylin’ girl in Amalfi!

Soiree of the Week

This past weekend, I went to dinner at Kong – famous asian infusion restaurant known by Andy Warhol types from the 80’s and 90’s. Since going and getting a feel for the Vibe of how this restaurant worked, and how people dressed, I understood that it was a very “scene-y” place that has turned into a destination for try hard Americans. Looking passed the delicious, yet overpriced menu and drinks on the menu I’ll focus this week on what someone “back in the day” would have dressed when attending Kong. In order to restore Kong’s reputation, I decided to create an outfit that embodies its asian infusion food with its high end style. Screen Shot 2017-03-26 at 11.18.48 PM.png

With this outfit, you can enjoy a cocktail downstairs, and hurry up to your dim sum upstairs while watching the sun set over paris in their glass, bubbly like terrace overlook. This outfit I think is coming back into style in the sense that 90’s retro fashion is coming back to the younger generation. With girls dressing in vintage Levi’s and cropped adidas shirts, the Carrie in Sex and the City look is back and better than ever.

Sunday Brunch

Today’s Sunday! In New York, it’s a busy day for Bottomless Brunch. Today, if I were to go out to eat for Brunch in Paris, I would go to HolyBelly in the 10th arrondissement. They have hundreds of reviews and photos on Yelp.

The weather has been getting nicer and nicer in Paris. This is an example of what I would wear to brunch. A bold and bright colored waterfall blazer, paired with a simple white tee and boyfriend jeans. To add another level of chic, I would wear matching heels or flats. This cognac handbag is the perfect compliment to the bright Spring palette. A soft lip and mascara and I’m all set!

What’s your favorite brunch spot in Paris?

Soiree of the Week

Modern Day Opera

This past week we went to a fashion exhibit where we saw a fabulous green dress. This green dress exemplifies elegance, taste, and beauty all in one. We can think, or we can assume that this dress was worn to a very nice evening event, perhaps the opera – so for this weeks “soirée off the week” we’ll look at what green dress we can find to wear to the modern day opera.

After looking at the simple, yet complex dress that we analyzed at the exhibit I had to think long and hard about what the modern day woman would wear to the opera while still embodying this simple look. I recreated three different looks to embody different styles for a night at the opera.

For the first outfit, it’s more of a summery day look for maybe a woman coming of age, so someone of our age. With the summery nude sandal and hint of yellow clutch to go with the tropical patterned cropped dress would be a perfect outfit for this event. As for the second outfit it is more of a fit for someone more serious. With the slim fitting dress with a high neckline, the touches of pink make it fun and young, yet still elegant with the pointed stiletto and pink sash. And for the final outfit, it is definitely an outfit to impress in. With the jeweled shoes and over the top elaborately decorated clutch, it only matches the elegance comported by the dresses sequins and design.
The dress we saw in the exhibit looks as though it should be worn by a woman of style, a woman who was meant to be seen in it – well so are these three dresses. They are meant to be worn to a tasteful event and worn by no other than a woman who embodies tasteful clothing.

What’s your favorite outfit?

Concert Couture in Paris

Bonjour Fashionistas!

One of the things I love most about living in a city as large as Paris is the large amount of musicians who perform here. Two of my favorite artists, The Chainsmokers and The Weeknd, performed in Paris only a week apart from each other. I love attending concerts for two main reasons: 1) I love live music, and 2)I love any event that gives me a reason to dress up.

It is common for women to wear dark colors to concerts, often mixing denim with black pieces. Leather jackets can also be a great staple piece for any girl’s concert wardrobe. I put a set together on Polyvore of an outfit I think would be perfect for the Parisian concert scene.

Screen Shot 2017-03-05 at 11.12.14 PM.png

It includes a black leather jacket, a mesh top with some flowery pink and red embroidery, black skinny jeans with ripped knees (I actually own this pair and they’re my absolute FAVE!), gray suede booties, and a studded black cross-body bag. I think concerts are a great way to express your “edgy” and artsy side, and I personally think the best way to do this is through mixing different colors and textures, as I did with this set.

I’m all set for my next concert with this look, and I can’t wait to see what artist is coming to Paris next!
